A Scotts Valley family photo session for a special little girl’s first birthday milestone that includes her deceased older brother.
This little beauty turned one last month, and like many families, hers chose to do a photo session to celebrate. Just like with every photo session that includes multiple children, I captured images of the siblings together.
Similar to all sibling relationships, she played with him, knocked him over, and pondered his existence in her life.
Except this little girl will never really know her older brother, Will. She’ll only ever get to play with a representation of him.
Will passed a few years ago just before he was supposed to enter this world, but he forever holds his place in the family. Using Will’s special bear, I was able to commemorate him in their family photos.
Towering redwoods made a beautiful backdrop for this Scotts Valley photo session, and you see we had a lot of playtime to capture those smiles!
Mom and dad got a few minutes for their own for photos as well. I love doing this for parents, because often they haven’t had photos taken since their wedding!
And, of course, I captured many images of the birthday girl on her own, as well as with her parents.
And many images that include the entire family.
I wanted to create a special memorial image for their gallery to show how Will is a part of their family always.
It was a beautiful morning in the redwood forest for preserving these special memories for this birthday girl!
