About the Sequoia Hospital Birth Center

Sequoia Hospital Birth Center is located on the third floor of the facility. This birth center’s labor and delivery staff pride themselves on providing personal, expert care for mothers and babies. The labor and delivery staff aims to equip families with support and confidence as they transition into their roles as parents. The birth center provides prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care, all in one location!

You can find the Birth Center at 170 Alameda de las Pulgas Redwood City, CA 94062.

Services

Sequoia Hospital requires patients to pre-register if they plan to deliver at this birth center. Pre registration can be done at any time during pregnancy and can be filled out online. This birth center offers 24-hour anesthesia services, OB physician and pediatrician coverage, and lactation consultants (IBCLC’s).

Complimentary valet parking is available to families who give birth at Sequoia Hospital.

Each labor suite contains a fully adjustable birthing bed, a bathroom equipped with a shower, and sleeping accommodations for the mom’s support person. During labor, various pain management options are available to lessen the discomfort and pain. These include short-term pain medication, warm showers, partner massages, nitrous oxide, and epidurals.

After delivery, immediate skin-to-skin contact (“the Golden Hour”) with your baby is encouraged. Parents can enjoy the privacy of immediate bonding time following labor and delivery. Your baby will room with you for the duration of your stay at the birthing center.

Facility & Classes

At Sequoia Birth Center, families will experience the comfort and convenience of staying in the same room for labor, delivery, and recovery. Postpartum rooms are cozy and private, with sleeping accommodations (built-in guest bed, sleeper chair, or foldout bed) for the mom’s support person and an en-suite private bathroom with a shower. The rooms also include a rocking chair (perfect for nursing or soothing your little one to sleep) and a bassinet.

Sequoia Birth Center offers a virtual tour of the facility, including photos of the check-in station, birthing rooms, and bathrooms. There are 15 labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery suites at Sequoia Birth Center.

Although in-person classes are currently unavailable, Sequoia Hospital Birth Center offers many virtual classes for new and expectant parents. Topics include new parent support groups, sibling preparation, infant and child safety, birth, breastfeeding, newborn care, childbirth preparation, understanding fatherhood, and infant CPR. You can find a list of class schedules and fees on their website.

Specialty

Childbirth classes and parenting support groups are available through Sequoia Hospital. A skilled team of certified lactation consultants provides breastfeeding support in the hospital and after you return home. You can book an in-person consultation or phone appointment to get help with any breastfeeding-related issues you may experience.

If your baby needs more specialized care, a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is available at Sequoia Hospital, located in the birth center. Suppose your little one is born prematurely or needs intensive care. In that case, they can receive immediate attention in the Level II NICU from doctors and nurses specializing in neonatology care. Family togetherness is a top priority. As such, overnight facilities are available to discharged families while their baby remains in the Special Care Nursery.
