The time surrounding birth is a delicate one filled with many emotions, and fortunately there are mental health professionals who can help. Recently, I had the opportunity to chat with therapist Shalaka Gupte about her experience helping women during this time. Read on for more!
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), licensed to practice independently in CA, NJ, and TX. I also have my PMH-C, which is specialized training to work with Perinatal Mental Health issues. In addition, I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor, which allows me to supervise provisionally licensed clinicians.
I work with a variety of clients and presenting problems. I see children, adolescents, and adults in our general practice, and in our Reproductive Counseling Center, I work with people struggling with issues such as infertility, pregnancy loss, postpartum anxiety and depression, and adjusting to life transitions. I also work with pregnancy and fertility issues through a cultural lens, specializing in South Asian culture.
Just do it! I believe everyone can benefit from therapy. Therapy is a part of our self care – just as we might get a massage or take a walk, therapy can be a part of releasing all those emotions that may be weighing you down.
I work with children as young as 3 and adults as young as 83!
I provide online services.
I offer a free consultation. Feel free to reach out to see if we would be a good fit!
Thank you so much, Shalaka, for sharing about your online therapy services! I hope that any woman considering therapy will reach out for a free consultation so they can get the help they need.
