This birthing center’s private rooms are designed for labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care. Several of the rooms even overlook the facility’s beautiful gardens, and all rooms have outdoor views.
The birth center’s neonatal intensive care unit and Level II nursery can handle premature babies or babies who need specialized support. The center is also a designated Baby-Friendly Hospital.
Services
Mills-Peninsula Family Birth Center is a healthcare facility staffed by midwives and obstetricians to assist mothers in labor and their families. Healthcare professionals monitor the birthing person throughout labor and delivery, providing assistance to make the birthing process easier. All of the Family Birth Center’s rooms have outdoor views, allowing patients to experience a sense of calm through natural light and outside views.
The Family Birth Center includes access to the Atrium Café on the first floor of the Mills-Peninsula Medical Center and is open daily. This café gives patients’ families a chance to grab a bite to eat and take a little break.
Patients who plan to give birth at the Family Birth Center should pre-register during their second trimester of pregnancy. Pre-registering allows a more effortless arrival and quicker admittance when the mother is in active labor.
This birthing center supports lactation through breast pump rentals. The hospital-grade Medela Symphony breast pump is available to rent through the Baby Sprouts program (operated in the gift shop). The shop also carries various other Medela products to make the breastfeeding journey successful. Rentals are available for weekly, 3-month, and 6-month options.
Specialty
The Mills-Peninsula Family Birth Center also has a gift shop where visitors can shop. The store is located on the first floor of the Mills-Peninsula Medical Center’s Clinic Building. It is open every day of the week. Visitors can pick up flowers, cards, gift items, and apparel when they come to meet your new little one! The gift shop also offers hospital-grade breast pump rentals and several other breastfeeding supplies.
Patients can also access many classes and support groups throughout pregnancy and postpartum, with topics that include breastfeeding, childbirth preparation, infant CPR and first aid, newborn care, sibling prep classes, birth center tours, new moms support groups, and breastfeeding support groups. Moms feel supported throughout all stages of their journey to parenthood!
