Los Gatos Newborn Photography Session

A lifestyle newborn photo session was just the right fit for this Los Gatos family! Lifestyle newborn photography captures the interactions between the new baby and the rest of the family. For most of my newborn photo sessions, families choose both lifestyle and posed images. However, a lifestyle-only session works especially well for older newborns.

Why is that? The reason is that older newborns tend to be more awake, which makes getting those posed sleeping photos more challenging. However, one of the best things about photographing older newborns is that they are starting to grow out of that wrinkly newborn stage. They become rounder and fill out more, which is fun for cute belly rolls. They also start to have some personality, and we’re likely to even capture a smile!

One of my favorite things about in-home newborn photography is how it captures the family’s home. The home you first introduce your baby to is so special. I love that families will forever have these photos to help them hold onto these memories. The decor in your home also speaks to who you are at this time in your life. The guitar on this family’s wall adds a personal touch to their images.

For this Los Gatos newborn photography session, the family’s home had beautiful light and it was fun to take advantage of that in different areas of their home. Sometimes families are concerned that the light in their house isn’t enough. Typically, I’ll take a tour of their home when I first arrive and am always able to find pockets of light to create beautiful images with.
